AL SHAQAB ~ Open House and Auction

... held in the evening of the 20th February,

at
the AL SHAQAB Breeding & Show section

and the new equine Al Shaqab complex, a true state-of-the-art facility!

Al Shaqab, member of Qatar Foundation hosted once again an Open House
straight after the
Qatar International Championship 2011.

The new stables and facilities were the location of the presentation
arranged from the Al Shaqab Breeding & Show department to give
an input to their new stables and some of their horses and breeding

The Al Shaqab Director. Fahad Saad Al Qahtani, gave a warm welcome and
spoke some words about their future plans, pending constructions and ideas
at the Al Shaqab and overall equine complex being all still in progress

The evening was another celebration of the Arabian Horse heritage
that is part of the foundation of the Qatari culture.
The Breeding & Show section presented some horses in hand and in liberty

People, visitors and guests from all over the world attended the Open House,
- from the different Gulf countries, from Europe, the U.S., Brazil and Australia -
attended the event that featured some of Al Shaqab's presence and future

The 'Polish pride' in Al Shaqab - PILAR!
She was the proud addition from the last year's 'auction in Poland,
where the breeding & show management team purchased this mare
having been the the top seller of the auction. PILAR is great mare with
great and really outstanding movement. Her high breeding potentials she already
mproved, repeatedly and especially with GAZAL AL SHAQAB, so for example PINGA.

Some of the new babies at Al Shaqab were also presented still at dams' side

One of very promising, a lovely filly and one of the very first foals by the young
straight Egyptian sire and Al Adeed son, homebred FARHOUD AL SHAQAB
(out of Johara Al Shaqab). He was the 2010 Champion Stallion and
Supreme Champion Male at the Egyptian Event in Lexington/ USA

The 2011 Al Shaqab Auction

A collection of purebred Arab horses were offered at the auction,
sons and daughters of the famous Al Shaqab stallions Gazal Al Shaqab,
Marwan Al Shaqab, Al Adeed Al Shaqab, and the late Alidaar,
of WN Star of Antigua and Ansata Ibn Sirius, but also of outside stallions
like Sinan Al Rayyan, Ashhal Al Rayyan, CH El Brillo, Padrons Psyche,
Parys El Jamaal, and the Monogramm son Debowiec.

Al Shaqab' Breeding & Show depoartment 25 horses, and 24 were sold!
A very good result and record, especially when noting that the buyers
came from several different countries all over the Gulf!

Only one horse passed-in unsold, a Padrons Psyche daughter, but simply
because the last bid of 280.000 Qatar Riyals were not enough for the
Al Shaqab responsibles to say 'yes' and to let her go.

Buyers could find different options in quality and by fillies, colts or broodmares,
straight Egyptian bloodlines but also mixed bloodlines.
The prices diverged between 17.000 QR and 280.000 QR in the top!

The auction was leaded, entertained, and motivated again by the
smart and active, and successful auctioneer Mohannad Al Yaqot

Some of horses were proudly presented by a smart, always good mooded professional
and trainer coming originally from Italy - the great horse man Alessio, entertaining
the stuff around while waiting for the next horse and ready to dance his next 'horse ballet'

The Al Shaqab 2011 auction resulted in a
Total of 1.657.000 Qatari Riyals
(= approx. 330.000 EUR)
which was another nice and pleasent success!

The showy two-year-old colt MUTASIM AL SHAQAB,
a Marwan Al Shaqab son out of a Padrons Psyche daughter,
presented his full potentials as a future show horse ...

And the end of the auction and day with many wonderful horses,
a lnice while cold evening in Al Shaqab ended with a lovely dinner
next to the trophies and awards that had been successfully collected
from Al Shaqab throughout the years, now impressively exhibited in the hall

The tables and buffet were nicely set and decorated in one of the huge halls
at the Breeding & Show section and area ....

... just around the brand new horse and training swimming pool being of the finest!.

And a special shot for some special memories and records for
Fabio Brianzoni (2nd from left) from the well known Tutto Arabi magazine,
pictured with three people of Al Shaqab's Breeding & Show section:

Mohamed M. Al Sulaiti - the Head Manager of Breeding & Show (with red);
Abdulla Al Kuwari - breeding adviser (left);
Majid Al Kaabi - stable manager (right)

The new Al Shaqab facilities and the Al Shaqab equine complex is still not finished yet,
but what we see is amazing! It really gives you an imagination of the future there!

The Al Shaqab responsibles have more plans and visions - for their own horses and breeding,
but also the whole Arab horse community in Qatar and worldwide!

They focus their heritage, but also their future. Qatar is indeed a small country,
but the mind and visions there are always big! The oil and gas make them the base
not only to think about and believe in but also to go for. And they always for the best!
And these people make impossible things possible to become true and real at the end.

The Arabian horse future in Qatar and Al Shaqab looks bright,
and we will curiously follow up the progress and more!

See you next year there, or maybe already in November this year,
when the 2011 WAHO Conference will held in Qatar... !
Just plan your trip!
