The Polish horses are famous all over the world. They win at the major shows and many of them are an exquiste reflexion of quality, with superb movement, mostly in the classical Saqlawi or Kuhailan type.
Every year in August, we have the pleasure to experience the Polish Arabian Horse Days at the famous Janow Podlaski Stud's location - an event that always offers a warm welcome and atmosphere, and horses of the highest class. The second weekend of August is reserved for the Polish National Show and "Pride of Poland" Auction, followed by an organized studfarm tour to Michalow Stud and Bialka Stud. So get yourself ready, and plan your trip to Poland in August. More informations can be found on the official website www.prideofpoland.pl. The kind and very supportive team of the 'Polturf' company will assist you in all matters relating to your visit to Poland.
Today's breeding programmes at Janow Podalski, Michalow and Bialka Stud are influenced by the old but also some modern influence, with breedings to some selected outside stallions. One of these, and a most influential one, was the U.S. stallion MONOGRAMM, who left some extraordinary show and broodmares in Poland, amongst them, World, European, Nations Cup, US Scottsdale and international Champion Mares - for example, KWESTURA, PALMIRA, PALESTYNA, ELANDRA, ESPADRILLA, and the most famous "Triple Crown" winner and succesful sire EKSTERN. Later on, the straight Egyptian stallion LAHEEB (Imperial Imdal x AK Latifa) was leased from Ariela Arabians, Israel, producing some good broodmares, show and racing horses. Another stallion was SANADIK EL SHAKLAN from the U.S. using artificial insemination, who has produced in Poland the famous multi Champion EL DORADA. A great impact to Poland was also made by the Egyptian-Polish stallion GAZAL Al SHAQAB, bred and owned by Al Shaqab Stud, from Qatar. A son of the straight Egyptian stallion ANAZA EL FARID (by Ruminaja Ali) and the Polish and American domestic bred mare KAJORA, he was on lease for two years and produced among others, Janow Podlaski's most exotic multiple Champion and "triple Crown" winner PIANISSIMA, National Champion Filly PINGA, and Michalow's excellent European and World Champion EMANDORIA.
The planning of great present and future is only possible with the right past - especially in breeding something we should never forget, or ignore the influence of the past and the ancestors. The picture above shows one of the 'Grand Seniors' and one of the most influential sires in the Polish breeding: the late EUKALIPTUS (Bandos x Eunice). Prancing lightly back to the stables and next to his handler, he was one of the most important sires in Poland, seen in many Polish pedigrees. EUKALIPTUS was born in 1974, and passed away on 18th of July 2001 at 27 years of age due to heart attack.
When breeding, never forget the past! Breeding means knowledge of history, a clear eye and mind in the present, and a vision for the future....! |
