The show season is running and nearly every weekend there is scheduled another Arab horse show somewhere on this planet, particularly in Europe and the U.S., whilst in the Middle East it is quieter during these hot summer months. However, some of the best show contenders from there are brought to Europe to compete and represent their owners. And also some others of the other top quality horses get some rest and enjoy their days in the pastures without any of the stress of show training, travelling, or competing. Two such horses are the two mares pictured in our 'Monthly'. Both had been very successfully shown for years and have achieved several titles: pictured left - the Polish bred ESKALOPKA, a 1994 born daughter by Monogramm and a European Champion Mare, owned by Albidayer Stud and purchased in 2004 during the 'Pride of Poland' auction held annually in August. The lovely mare pictured right is SAN JOSE ALFONSINA, a 1991 mare born in South America, and formerly Argentinian National Champion Mare. In 2007, she was Ajman Champion Mare in her new home area.
The o wner of both of these mares is Sheikh Mohammed Bin Saoud Al Qassimi, who owns the internationally well known Albidayer Stud, in Sharjah (United Arab Emirates), which is also the home of the famous multiple and World Champion MARAJJ. Both mares had much show success in the past few years, but for now, they carry their babies to produce the next generation for Albidayer Stud. Each of the two are great movers, with wonderful elegant necks, and each has already produced some interesting progeny. ESKALOPKA is for example, the dam of the 2005 born BIDAYER (by Emigrant), and SAN JOSE ALFONSINA produced the three-year-old ALFONZO, a powerful, bay son by AB Magnum, who has already recorded his own show success.
