On it's way ... the TAHO - The Arabian Horse Organization

A new Arab Horse organization is on it's way to be established in the Middle East. It is named TAHO (The Arab Horse Organization) and is the equivalent to the ECAHO in Europe.

Arabian horses rank prominently in the life of Arab people. The Organization shall be a non-profit organization constituted by owners, breeders, individuals, entities or organizations interested in the genuine Arabian horse from any Arab country who is a member of the League of Arab States (the “Member States”) and organizations or individuals from other countries interested in the genuine Arabian horse. "Genuine horse" as defined in the TAHO constitution means any horse that is registered in a WAHO studbook.

The legal seat and registered TAHO office will be in Geneva, Switzerland, while administrative offices may open in other countries, too. The Founding Committee has nine members from different Arab countries. The driving power and head comes from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as the already appointed Chairman is HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the owner of the well known Athbah Stud. Another well known foundation member is named with Essam Abdullah, from Abu Dhabi, the Director General of the Emirates Arab Horse Society (EAHS) and also the ECAHO Vice-President. Some other representatives, from Bahrain and from Egypt, are also named already.

The Organization shall pursue its objective by promoting the Arabian horse in all its different fields, and by setting the rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the Organization and ensuring that any and all activities undertaken, sponsored or in any way supported by the Organization with respect to the Genuine Arabian Horse are carried out in accordance with the vision and objectives of the Organization. TAHO shall organizing and conducting courses on cultural and scientific subject matters for the Members of the Organization in accordance with the vision and objectives of the Organization; promoting public interest in the Arab horses and all related activities in the Member States; introducing breeders and owners at local, regional and international levels as well as providing them with related services; disseminating information on the breeding methods, care and training of the Arabian horses; holding training and education symposiums for breeders, owners and other parties interested in this breed; holding training symposiums, conferences or exhibitions relating to the care of the Arab horse for judges, handlers and jockeys in the Member States; consolidating relations among horse breeders in the Member States as well as their relations with other Arabian and international societies; organizing flat racing and endurance events, shows and auctions in the various Member States provided that any such event, complies with the rules and regulations applicable in the host Member State.
The financial resources for TAHO will come from membership subscription fees, returns from activities of the Organization, donations, gifts and reliefs, grants and any other assistance provided by the Member States. The fiscal year starts 1st October each year, by this month!

The TAHO and its visions and efforts are taking some leads in hands, comparable to ECAHO, but the main power in Arab hands and in the Arab countries. We will see, if this new TAHO is a sunrise for the whole Arab horse community, or a more going on sunset for the weakened strength of the ECAHO. At the end, we hope and wish that something positive and constructive will come out for all - on behalf of all and our beloved Arabian horse and it's breeding, heritage and future!
Our October-Monthly shows a photograph of a scene taken in the desert and in Saudi Arabia during sunrise. Might this be a positive sign that all is hopefully nicely and shiney going up ... !
